General Electric, the global leader in energy has entered an agreement to co-develop 500MW pumped hydrogen storage project at Dungowan Dam in the New South Wales state, Australia.
The site of the project, Dungowan, is a part of the massive 4,000MW renewable energy plus storage project which is currently being put together by Walcha Energy, and with this move, it is likely to become the “biggest integrated RE+storage project in Australia.
As per report by Institue for Energy Economics and Financial Analysis (IEEFA), GE Renewable Energy Hydro Solutions has agreed to provide technical and commercial support to help accelerate the development of the Dungowan pumped hydro storage power plant, which would have between six to eight hours of storage.
hydrogen storage power plant could play a critical role in ensuring reliable wind and solar power in the region and enable firming and grid support services. The project is estimated to be a major RE+storage project in the New England renewable energy zone (REZ) that has been proposed by the state government of New South Wales.
