State-owned power giant NTPC recently announced that its total installed capacity has increased to 62910 MW.

The Unit-2, 800MW, of Lara Super Thermal Power Project, has been added to installed capacity of NTPC on successful completion of trial operation, an official statement said.

“With this, the total installed capacity of NTPC and NTPC group has become 51155 MW and 62910 MW respectively,” NTPC added.

In September, Unit-1, 800MW of Lara Super Thermal Power Project was made fully operational, and this month another 800 MW of Unit-2 was added making the 1600MW project fully operational. The Lara Super Thermal Power Project is in Chhattisgarh.

With a total installed capacity of 62910 MW, NTPC Group has 70 power stations comprising of 24 coal, seven combined cycle gas/liquid fuel, one hydro, 13 renewables along with 25 subsidiary and joint venture power stations.
