SCCL commissions 30 MW Manuguru solar plant

Singareni Collieries Company Ltd (SCCL) commissioned a 30 MW solar power plant at Manguru, on Thursday, July 30.

The solar plant near the old Manuguru village is spread across an area of 150 acres and developed at a cost of Rs 125 crore. Under the first phase, the government-owned coal mining company has planned to complete the construction of 129 MW capacity plant of the total 300 MW solar power program. 

About 100,000 solar panels have been arranged in the Manuguru solar plant, for which the construction was taken up by Bharat heavy electricals limited. The power generated from the solar power plant will be supplied to the local 220 kV substation and a separate substation constructed to feed it to the grid. It is estimated that the company is likely to earn Rs 11 crore from this station.

As per the planned phase-I production of 129 MW, SCCL has in so far completed 10 MW of solar power plant at Jaipur, and the 30 MW at Manuguru, bringing the total solar power supplied to the grid at 40 MW.

Despite the slowdown due to COVID-19, Manuguru solar plant has been completed as scheduled. Further, in the next two months, SCCL is working towards rolling out 50 MW plant at Ramagundam III area and 30 MW plant at Illandu area.
