Designation: Associate Professor
Company: School of Chemical Engineering & School of Materials Engineering, Purdue University (Researcher)

At Purdue University, Dr. Pol's research and educational interests are in the fields of chemical engineering, electrochemical engineering, nanoparticle technology, materials science, environmental technology and energy storage technologies. Pol leads an experimental research group, ViPER (Vilas Pol Energy Research) specializing in the synthesis of tailored energy storage materials with his pioneered synthesis methodologies, understanding of their fundamental engineering aspects, and study of improved electrochemical properties. His research interests include the design and engineering of various novel synthesis processes (solid-state, sonochemical, autogenic reactions, hydrothermal synthesis etc.) for the preparation of a wide range of functional nanostructures for their applications as electrode materials for energy storage devices. His lab is tuned for all sorts of electrochemical energy storage technologies, mainly Li-ion, Li-S and Na-ion batteries. Before joining Purdue University as an Associate Professor, Dr. Pol was a Materials Scientist in the Chemical Sciences and Engineering department at Argonne National Laboratory, IL. He received his B.Sc. (1994), M. Sc. (1996) and M. Phil. (1997) degrees in chemistry from the University of Pune, India. University of Pune is one of the premier universities in India, popularly known as 'Oxford of the East'. He received his graduate degree in chemistry from Bar-Ilan University, Israel under the supervision of Emer. Prof. Aharon Gedanken.
