International Battery Manufacturing, Recycling & Circular Economy Conference
Honorable PM Shri Narendra Modi’s leadership helped India to leapfrog from an end consumer of advanced batteries to manufacturing through the PLI (Production Linked Incentive) scheme and now mining critical minerals within a decade. This is a remarkable growth milestone for the battery storage and EV industry in India. The government awarded 30 GWH manufacturing capacity to 3 companies under the PLI scheme and expects to bid another 20 GWH in the next 2-3 months. Recently Ministry of Mines also announced an auction for 20 critical minerals mines including battery materials like Lithium, Nickel, Manganese, Copper, Graphite, and others. India is expected to have 3 battery giga factories to be production-ready by 2024. India Energy Storage Alliance (IESA) closely works with 180+ ecosystem players and expects 10+ giga factories by 2030 (with 140 GWh production capacity), and 15+ giga factories by 2035 (500 GWh production capacity). India Energy Storage Alliance (IESA) also expects 10+ battery chemical processing units to be set up for cathode, anode, electrolyte and separator, copper, and aluminum foil in the next 5-7 years. Under BIS regulations, Battery safety is one of the priority areas for the government, and that will lead to safety considerations for the overall electric mobility industry. Considering the importance of the circular economy, There are already 5+ Lithium-Ion recycling units and 10+ scrap collection and processing units operational in India. We expect many Indian players and global players to enter the battery recycling industry in the coming years. Currently, more than 100+ battery pack assembling players supply battery packs to the EV industry in India. Many battery software and BMS start-ups have flourished in the Indian market over the years. Indian Battery industry is expected to bring 100 billion in investment in the next 3 years. With the support of the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India, Industry bodies including IESA will be organizing one of the world’s largest Exhibition called Bharat Mobility Global Expo 1st – 3rd February 2024 in the Mobility space at a grand Exhibit Halls of Bharat Mandapam (Pragati Maidan), New Delhi. We invite all Charging Infra and Battery Swapping companies to be part of this global event.
With the Bharat Mobility 2024 exhibition, IESA is organizing leadership conferences that engage all industry players, government bodies, and international stakeholders to discuss, brainstorm, and strategize the growth of the electric mobility sector. We at IESA invite all relevant stakeholders to be part of this International Battery Manufacturing, Recycling & Circular Economy Conference, 2nd February 2024, Bharat Mandapam, Pragati Maidan, New Delhi.
