“Future of distributed home storage systems” by Tobias Winter
India, predominantly uses lead acid battery for urban households back up. But with the cost reduction of Li-Ion battery, various companies tried to launch home energy storage systems. With higher adoption of rooftop solar, Solar+ energy storage system are evolving as an alternate solution for power back-ups in urban locality. Gradually, India might see a shift to grid-independent systems in coming years, and storage systems such as solar-plus-storage will see a significant boost in the market. It will also be likely to be a boom in the rural or off-grid solar+energy storage systems. There is no specific subsidy scheme by the government for home storage systems or Solar+ storage systems. But through the Saubhagya scheme, the government is trying to provide Solar+ Li-Ion battery system in remote areas for energy access. In this webinar, experts highlighted the global and India market updates and future potential for distributed home storage systems.
