IESA in association with United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) organized a webinar on 23rd November 2020 where UNIDO shared about the launch of "The Facility of Low Carbon Deployment" Innovation Challenge for the year 2020 with the vision to identify high-impact emerging Start-ups and thereby support them for technology validation and market access. This year onwards, Electrical Energy Storage has been recognized as an emerging sector for innovation and has been introduced as a vertical for the Innovation Challenge. The session delivered an introduction about the Innovation challenge, the eligibility criteria for Start-ups, the program objective and structure along with the benefits offered, its process for application of the challenge and its M&V process involved. UNIDO has initiated this project with an objective to address technology gaps through use of energy efficiency technologies and support the deployment and scale-up. The project is being implemented in collaboration with the Bureau of Energy of Efficiency (BEE) and is supported by the Global Environment Facility (GEF).
